MASATO

　1968年 愛知県生まれ。1999年に写真家の妻とともに写真事務所を設立しフリーランスとなる。
人物、風景、舞台 などの撮影や写真講師・講演、写真誌寄稿などを生業とする。近年は、自然と人間との普遍的な関係を表現することを目的とした作品などが、フランスのフォトアートフェスティバルなどの場で展示発表されている。

Masato Ono

Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1968. Became a freelance photographer in 1999 when he opened a photo studio with his wife.Takes portraits, landscapes and photos of performing arts, teaches and lectures about photography, and writes for photography magazines for a living. In recent years, has exhibited works that express mankind’s universal relationship with the natural environment at photo-art festivals in France and elsewhere.

作品　Statement of the work

　「Shinra」

　　無心に呼ばれる一瞬の光景。
　　光の存在が 「存在」 を存在させる。
　　生まれること、 朽ちること、
　　すべてが共存し、 存在している。
　　いたるところで。
　森羅万象をテーマに、 具象化されない “何か” を光の光景から表現する。
　日本古来より伝わる、 神宿る地とされる場所に赴き、 神、 真、 心、 信、
　身、 など、 見る側の幅広い解釈につなげたい。

　「REHAB」

　深淵の森、その先にある光に導かれるように歩む。
　そこには今にも森の色に塗りつぶされつつある時を経たガードレールが現れた。
　それを前にして、ただ立ち尽くす。
　そこには再生と侵食があるのだった。

　In the abyss forest,I walked lead by holy bright front light front of my eyes.
　It was appeared a guardrail which was spend a long time became covered all by spectacular deep forest`s color sooner.
　I had nothing to do,just I had kept gazing and standing still.
　I had felt about regrowth and erosion.

　「Cub-jo」

「鉄砲とロケットの島」に「よかよめじょう」がいると聞いてやってきた。
しかし、島に上陸するなり目にしたのはホンダ・カブで疾走する女子高校生。衝撃的な光景に目を疑う。

「これ、誰のバイク?」 「おいがと(私のです)」
「え、、、誰かにもらったとか?」 「んにゃ、買ってもらった(いえ、買ってもらいました)」
「スーパーカブ、好きなの?」 「おょおょ、当たり前や定番だわ(はい、みんな乗ってます)」
「カブのどんなとこが好き?」 「馬力あってギヤがよこうちゃ、むじょかからな(馬力があってギヤついてて、かわいい)」

種子島の女性は芯が強く、頼りになる働き者が多いことから、 近隣の島からは「嫁をもらうなら種子島」と言われている。
ホンダ・カブをかわいい相棒にするたくましい女子高生の姿に、その片鱗を見たような気がした。

I made my way to this “island of firearms and rockets” because I had heard tell of the yokayomejo (local dialect for a “beautiful, good natured woman”). But, what caught my eye when I landed were these high school girls racing around on Honda Cubs. I couldn’t believe what I saw.

“Whose motorcycle is that?” “Mine.”
“So ... was it a present from someone?”
“No, it was bought and paid for (cause I needed it).”
“Do you like the Super Cub?” “Yea, everyone rides it.”
“What do you like about the Cub?”
“It’s got horsepower and gears, and it’s cute.”

Known for being strong-willed and reliable workers, the women of Tanegashima are considered the best choice for a bride amongst the nearby islands.
I feel I got a glimpse of that in seeing these tough high school girls who have paired up with the “cute” Honda Cub.

「はにい窯」

　この島は、島に選ばれし者、または住むことを許された者たちだけが住んでいる気がする。
神々がいる島。龍が走り、巨人が歩くなどの伝説を、言い伝えだけではなく本能的に感じる人がいるというのも頷ける。
信州から来島した彼は、山に入り、原野を切り開き、住居をかまえ、窯をつくり、陶芸職人として半自給自足のような孤高の生活を３０年以上過ごしている。
辺りの住民が増え、村の様子が変化してゆくも彼は決して変わることはない。土をこね、薪を焚べ、炎の龍を見つめ続けている。
島に生かされている人間の姿がそこにある。

「Blue Drifting」

The Japanese term “seishun” (youth) refers to the time and age for young and immature people to spend full of energy and vitality through study, exercise, meeting new people, parting, relationships, and other experiences amid a flood of new information in their lives. It mainly refers to the school years. The literal translation is “blue (green) spring,” with “blue (green)” often referring to youth and inexperience.
Youth is the intertwining of the desire to want to take drastic action for oneself and the uncertainty of breaking away from the group to become independent. Conversations and actions at school end up becoming the premise for group consciousness when expressed in words.
However, everyone tries to come together to try find a temporary sense of security for support. You can control yourself in the crowd, but you will be irritated with yourself for enduring it. You lower your head and try to find support on your cell phone.
What about in a relationship with another person? Will you lose control over time, and will your true nature show itself and be understood? “I want to listen, and I want you to listen. I want to talk, and I want you to talk. I want to rely on you, and I want to be relied on. I want to be with you always, and I want to be alone.” In the mind, there is a state of survival where ideals and reality as well as sympathy and self-assertion conflict with each other.
However, growth waits at the forefront of the blue drifting.
